The pump you only notice when it fails.

A sump pump sits in a pit at the lowest point of a basement or crawl space and pumps out the water that collects there. It can sit idle for weeks, then have to run hard through a storm.

We test and repair existing pumps, replace worn ones, and install new ones where water keeps getting in.

Sump pump work is done by Autumn Air, which holds Alabama Plumbing license MP 4414 and has served Greater Birmingham since 2016.

What we do.

Testing and repair

Checking the float, the pump and the check valve, and fixing what is not working.

Replacement

Swapping a worn or failed pump before the next heavy rain finds it.

New installation

A pit and pump where water collects under the house and has nowhere to go.

Discharge lines

Making sure the water the pump moves drains away from the house instead of back toward it.

Battery backup

A backup pump on battery power keeps working when a storm takes the electricity out, which is exactly when the main pump is needed. We add one where the house calls for it.

Signs the pump needs attention.

Have it checked if:

  • It runs constantly, or never runs at all
  • Water stays in the pit and does not go down
  • It grinds or rattles when it runs
  • It is old and has never been tested
  • There is water under the house after rain
  • There is rust or corrosion on the pump or its line

Sump pump questions.

How do I test my sump pump?

Pour a bucket of water into the pit. The float should rise, the pump should start, and the level should drop. If it does not, call us.

When should it be replaced?

When it fails a test, runs constantly, or is old enough that you would rather not find out during a storm.

What happens if the power goes out?

A standard sump pump stops. A battery backup keeps pumping through the outage, and we can install one alongside your existing pump.

Do I need a sump pump?

If water collects under the house after heavy rain, it is worth a look. The estimate visit tells you whether a pump is the answer.

Test it before the storm.
